Valley Health Winchester Medical Center is certified as a Magnet Designated Hospital. A Magnet Designated Hospital is a healthcare facility that has been recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for its excellence in nursing care and is considered the one of the highest achievements a hospital can receive for nursing excellence and is only awarded to a hospitals that meet strict criteria.

To be designated as a Magnet hospital, a facility must demonstrate exceptional patient care, nursing leadership, and innovation in nursing practice. This includes having a highly skilled nursing staff, a supportive work environment, and a commitment to ongoing education and professional development. Warren Memorial Hospital stands out as a Pathway to Excellence Hospital, also certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This certification is awarded to hospitals that demonstrate a commitment to creating a positive work environment for nurses and providing high-quality patient care.

Being certified as a Pathway to Excellence means that the hospital has met rigorous standards set by the ANCC including creating a culture of safety, promoting nurse autonomy and decision-making, providing opportunities for professional development, and fostering a collaborative work environment. The hospital must also demonstrate that it values and supports its nurses, and that it is committed to providing excellent patient care.

Critical Access Hospitals

Valley Health has four Critical Access Hospitals in Virginia and West Virginia, helping to improve access to affordable healthcare by keeping essential services in rural communities.
