Minor complications during pregnancy can cause significant concern and
treating those complications needs specialized care. Maternal-fetal medicine
specialists are highly trained obstetrician/gynecologists with advanced
expertise in obstetric, medical, and surgical complications of pregnancy.
We have partnered with Shenandoah Valley Maternal Fetal Medicine (SVMFM) to provide these comprehensive and specialized services to women in a caring and compassionate environment.
Midwives
Valley Health is proud to expand our midwifery services to Winchester Medical
Center. Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM’s) are medical care providers
who provide medical and emotional care as well as guidance to the women
they serve. A midwife looks at a woman’s well-being holistically,
and strives to keep the whole woman healthy—mind and body.
Often, a midwife educates you and empowers you to be an active participant in the health of you and your baby—a person who gives you guidance on nutrition, listens to your baby’s heart rate and takes your blood pressure; but also who listens to you, counsels you and helps you as you transition into motherhood. In addition to pregnancy care, CNMs also provide well-woman care in the form of gynecological care.
