Obesity is a serious health concern that is not unique to adults. In the United States 22% of young adults are affected, which can cause immediate and long-term health concerns. Obesity related health risks include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, breathing problems such as asthma and sleep apnea, and joint problems.
Our multidisciplinary medical weight-loss program focuses on the unique needs of adolescents ages 14 and up. Our goal is to help adolescents safely reach and maintain a healthy weight while building healthy habits that promote adequate weight control. Our program is structured to educate and guide both young adults and their parents toward developing healthy eating and lifestyle habits. We offer medical, nutritional, educational and behavioral support through a team of nurse practitioners, dieticians, and behavioral therapists.
