Maternal Fetal Medicine

As of March 1, 2022, the offices of Shenandoah Valley Maternal Fetal Medicine will allow one care partner to accompany patients to in-office visits. The safety of moms and babies continues to be a top priority, so conditions apply. Care partners must be 16 years and older and may not accompany patients if they have been exposed to COVID-19, are experiencing symptoms or have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 10 days.

Helping You Grow Your Family Tree

Shenandoah Valley Maternal Fetal Medicine offers comprehensive care of complicated and high-risk pregnancies in a caring and compassionate environment. Minor complications during pregnancy can cause significant concern, and treating those complications needs specialized care. Many turn to the team at Shenandoah Valley Maternal Medicine to ensure safety for moms and babies. We work collaboratively with obstetricians, family physicians, and midwifes to ensure the best possible pregnancy care.

Contributing factors to a high-risk pregnancy can include:

  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Obesity
  • Advanced maternal age (35 at delivery)
  • Maternal/paternal carrier status
  • Family history of abnormalities
  • Twins, triplets or more
  • Medication exposure
  • Abnormal ultrasound findings

We see and treat patients for a wide variety of reasons. We offer pre-pregnancy counseling. Our services also include prenatal genetic tests such as amniocentesis/CVS.
