For women receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, special considerations apply when scheduling their annual screening mammogram. The Society of Breast Imaging (SBI) recommends COVID-19 vaccinations and screening mammograms be spaced out. Click here to learn more.

Breast Cancer Screening in Virginia & West Virginia

A mammogram is a type of x-ray used on the breasts to detect signs of breast cancer. Screening mammography is the first line of defense against this disease, and it is recommended that all women schedule a mammogram once a year when they turn 40. Your doctor may recommend an exam sooner than this if you have above average risk factors, such as cases of breast cancer in your family history.

  • Screening mammograms are a fully covered benefit with most insurance plans. Check your coverage!
  • No insurance? $99 self-pay fee available, details are listed below

In addition to digital mammography, we also offer state-of-the-art 3D mammograms. 3D mammograms are recommended for women with dense breast tissue, as it is harder to detect abnormalities from 2D scans in these cases.

To schedule your mammogram, please call 855-724-3384.

$99 Mammograms for Uninsured Patients

Mammograms are an integral part of every woman’s health and wellness. Aside from skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer for women in America. Roughly one in eight women will develop it at some point in their lives. Early detection is key to treating breast cancer, which is why mammograms and monthly self-breast exams are so important.

Not all insurance plans will carry coverage for breast exams. For these patients, all Valley Health hospital locations offer reduced-rate mammograms. Regular mammograms will be available for uninsured patients for a reduced fee of $99. Regular mammograms consist of 2D images. Uninsured patients have the option to add 3D images for an additional fee.
