Valley Health is proud to recognize Givi Basishvili, M.D., DABOM, Bariatric & Minimally Invasive Surgeon with the Valley Health Metabolic & Bariatric Program, for his role in shaping the future of bariatric surgery. Dr. Givi recently co-authored updated postoperative care guidelines for Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, published in Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases (SOARD)—the leading journal in the field.
Developed in collaboration with 13 top bariatric surgery experts from across the U.S., these guidelines were issued by the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). They provide a comprehensive, evidence-based framework designed to enhance patient safety, improve surgical outcomes, and support long-term success in obesity treatment.
Dr. Givi’s contributions play a crucial role in shaping national standards for Bariatric Centers of Excellence, reinforcing best practices in quality improvement and postoperative care. His work reflects Valley Health’s unwavering commitment to excellence, innovation, and improved patient outcomes.
