Engaged Team Provides Award-Winning Care at Warren Memorial Hospital
Over the past year, Warren Memorial Hospital (WMH) has been recognized with several significant national awards recognizing the hospital for safety, quality of care, patient satisfaction, and other key markers. At the same time, the dedicated team of caregivers at the hospital have hit high marks for staff engagement and commitment to nursing and clinical excellence. Together, the effort behind the awards, along with the dedication of our care team, provide our community and its citizens with extraordinary healthcare right here at home.
People First
We believe that our greatest resource is the team of 400 people who call Warren Memorial Hospital their workplace, and that team has given Valley Health feedback that they in turn feel engaged and appreciated. An annual employee engagement survey measures criteria like pride in working for the organization; whether employees would recommend WMH to friends and family who need care; and retention. Feedback from our skilled team at WMH reflects a highly engaged team of healthcare professionals with a strong commitment to the organization and the care it provides for our community.
Excellence in Nursing
WMH was also redesignated as a Pathway to Excellence® organization within the last year. Our nursing staff achieved the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) designation with survey responses that indicated strong adherence to the six Pathways standards: Shared Decision Making, Leadership, Safety, Quality, Well-Being, and Professional Development. Our nurse retention rate is consistently above 90% and demonstrates a superior level of commitment to caring for our community among our nursing team.
Nationally Recognized Care
Within the last 12 months, WMH has been recognized with top national accolades, including being named to the list of Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals in the country for 2024 by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. This annual assessment of rural hospital performance nationwide uses publicly reported data on 36 measures of quality, outcomes, patient satisfaction and cost that comprise the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®. Warren Memorial Hospital was one of only four Virginia hospitals to be included on the list.
Top Tier Patient Safety
Another top achievement came this year when Warren Memorial Hospital earned its 5th straight “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent, nonprofit national watchdog organization, recognizing achievements in protecting patients from harm in the hospital setting. WMH is among an elite group of only 16 hospitals in Virginia to have earned five consecutive “A” grades for patient safety since the spring of 2022.
Advanced Orthopedic Care
For the second cycle running, WMH earned the Gold Seal of Approval® for Total Knee Replacement and Total Hip Replacement Certification from The Joint Commission (TJC). Awarded in collaboration with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the two-year certification attests to the quality of the total joint program at WMH, from pre-surgical orthopedic consultation and patient education to surgery, pain management, rehabilitation, and follow-up.
WMH is using advanced robotics technology to aid in same-day total knee reconstruction procedures. Robot-assisted surgery offers uncompromising steadiness and precision when performing total knee replacements. Our team uses the latest technology and a multidisciplinary team approach to deliver a truly personalized surgical experience for each patient, right here in our community.
The entire care team at Warren Memorial Hospital is committed to putting our patients first, and continuing to provide extraordinary healthcare right here at home.
