Today, we're highlighting Amanda Diehl, one of our skilled physical therapist assistants at War Memorial Hospital’s Rehabilitation Center, where our therapists provide innovative, evidence-based care to our patients, both adults, and children, who have a wide range of needs.

Join us as we learn more about Amanda's connection to her work and what drives her passion for helping others.

Why did you choose to work at Valley Health's War Memorial Hospital?

The Outpatient Rehab Center in Berkeley Springs had just opened in a new location as I was graduating from PTA school, and something close to home interested me. At the time, they were not looking for a new hire, but a year later, I received a call to see if I was still interested in the position because they were looking to expand. My initial role was to split between inpatient and outpatient. When I interviewed, the staff was welcoming, friendly and family-oriented, and I knew it would be a great fit.

What is your favorite part about working with your patients?

Having the opportunity to work one-on-one with the patients allows me to get to know them on a personal level. We aren't rushed here and have the time to customize the care for each individual. Seeing them improve and gain independence by coming to physical therapy is very rewarding.

What do you like best about working on the team at War Memorial's Rehabilitation?

In the past 17 years with Valley Health, I've seen multiple employees come and go, but many stay and make it their professional home. Having tenure on the team makes the work environment welcoming to newcomers and helps us have a close-knit team with our colleagues. We all rely on each other. We are here to do our job and do it well, but we are also all here for one another.

I also love that we have a new facility that's only five years old, with a lot of new and updated equipment, and I can work in both an inpatient and outpatient setting. Plus, I have the opportunity to move up the clinical ladder and grow my career.

War Memorial Hospital is hiring inpatient and hybrid inpatient/outpatient physical therapists. Just a 45-minute commute from Winchester, Virginia!
