Tell us about your role.

I am the Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Coordinator for the Valley Health Metabolic & Bariatric Program. I help make sure our patients receive excellent care. This ranges from their journey in the office, steps to surgery, and experience during their hospital stay.

What inspired you to pursue a career in bariatrics?

Almost 17 years ago I stumbled across the posting for a bariatric office nurse. I knew some people who had surgery and I thought it was an interesting field. I took the leap into the unknown and have loved every moment.

What is your favorite part about your role?

I feel proud that I have helped so many people find wellness. My job is very rewarding. I have watched patients not be able to tie their shoes, drive, walk, or run. They end up doing all those things and so much more!  I love hearing about and seeing their journey. Our patients are so inspirational.

What's your favorite fun fact?  A fun fact I learned recently is that the Eiffel Tower can be 15 centimeters taller during the summer due to thermal expansion, meaning the iron heats up, the particles gain kinetic energy, and take up more space.

What is something interesting about you that people may not know?

I am a twin myself and I have twins. Some of the hobbies I love are going to the beach and gardening.
