Family Connections: The Lydas

We like to think of Valley Health as one large family, and nothing personifies that more than when family members work together in our health system.

Let's meet Matt Lyda and his wife, Victoria. This husband-wife duo love working at Valley Health because of their support system and their ability to carpool and access Valley Health perks, such as tuition assistance.

Matt Lyda, Epic Certified Applications Analyst

What do you like about working with/near family? The best thing about working at Valley Health together is the time spent and the ease for our family to carpool and utilize the child care center. We are 100% intertwined into the Valley Health System, from a clinical and operational standpoint (I think Victoria’s favorite thing is having an “in” within the Information System/Epic Teams if ever a problem exists 😊). It gives us another thing to talk to each other about, and actually know what we're saying.

Why did you choose VHS? Really, Valley Health chose me. We were living in Maryland at the time. Victoria had already accepted her previous position back and I was on the search. The Mobility and Access Management position had just previously been posted. I applied, interviewed, and I have been here ever since. Since being at Valley Health though, this has been the best opportunity for myself and family: two children later, Levi and Stella, two promotions, completed my MBA with the help of the tuition assistance program, and most recently gained my Epic Security certification.

What do you like about working with/near family? The best thing about working together here at Valley Health is we have a support system not only at home but at work as well. Even with Matthew working from home, he has assisted me a time or two with navigating through the operations side of Valley Health. We have that common interest of caring and supporting the community through healthcare.

Why did you choose VHS? My husband and I were moving back to the area and I was looking to find a job within the Women and Children area. I was able to work on Mother/ Baby for some time. I have left the Valley Health System a time or two, but I found my way back, and I am happy I did!

Work With Family

At Valley Health, we are looking for passionate, innovative, and caring people who will each bring their unique skills and perspectives to our workplace. We believe our exceptional team members are the foundation of our culture and key to our success at providing safe, high-quality care with high reliability.

We encourage our caregivers to invite their family, friends and network of dedicated colleagues to work (and perhaps live) in a community like ours.
