August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM). During the observance and every month, we encourage you to make sure you and your children are up to date on recommended vaccines. Contact us for an appointment to make sure you are up-to-date on your immunizations.
Why Go to My Primary Care Provider (PCP)?
Your PCP has a complete and accurate record of your vaccinations. This includes the flu vaccine, which is available through your Valley Health provider. Your provider can also give up-to-date, helpful information so you can feel comfortable with your vaccination decisions.
Why Is It Important?
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), thousands across the United States get sick from diseases that are preventable through vaccines. Some conditions, like diabetes, can make it more difficult for your immune system to fight certain infections. You can talk with your PCP about your specific health concerns and needs.
If you are pregnant, vaccines can protect your baby after birth. Antibodies passed when vaccinated can protect your baby from flu and whooping cough until they can get vaccinated.
Young babies and children are at the highest risk of contracting diseases like whooping cough.
What About COVID-19?
Due to COVID-19, vaccination rates have declined. This means more people are delaying important vaccines. Make sure you and your children are up to date on vaccines for preventable diseases.
At Valley Health, we remain focused on protecting and improving our community’s health. We have put into place several steps and procedures to ensure all patients have a safe experience at all of our facilities.
How Much Will It Cost?
Most health insurance plans will cover vaccines, including the flu shot, at little to no cost to you. Vaccines are available at most Valley Health provider offices.
