Valley Health Celebrates Survivors of Domestic Violence at 2019 Masquerade Gala

Valley Health was honored to take part in the 2019 Masquerade Gala as the Presenting Sponsor for the Eastern Panhandle Empowerment Center (EPEC)!

The fun-filled event was held Saturday, November 1st, at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center in Shepherdstown to raise funds for survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and dating violence. Hundreds of supporters filled the room to honor the lives of those impacted. Especially heartening to see was the dedication demonstrated by many volunteers and the center’s professional staff.

Awards were presented to community members who have tirelessly given of themselves to support the center as a resource and voice for people in crisis. EPEC believes that every person has the right to be safe, empowered, and free from violence and the fear of violence. Each year, the center seeks to eliminate domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, dating violence, and human trafficking. Additionally, the agency aims to reduce related social problems, such as child abuse, substance abuse, sexism, racism, and other forms of oppression.

In support of that mission, this special event featured a silent auction, live auction, tip jars, 50/50 raffle, dinner and of course, dancing. Proceeds from cash activities went directly towards funding Empowerment Center operations—to provide for families in crisis.

It was Valley Health’s first time hosting this event, and we were proud to help uplift the important work of our community partner. Their mission closely aligns with our own: Serving our Community by Improving Health. We commend them for keeping families safe across our region.
