Vincent F. Coviello, DDS
About
Dr. Coviello was born in Columbus, Ohio and grew up in Silver Spring Maryland. He received his undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology & Genetics from the University of Maryland. He was then granted fellowship from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to conduct research at the National Center for Human Genome Research, NIH. His Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree is from the University of Maryland. This was followed by a General Practice Residency at the VA in Baltimore. He then went to the University of Miami Medical School for residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. While there he was a Chief Resident and was granted the Professor’s Cup as the most outstanding resident of his class.
He had the privilege of studying under the world-renowned Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr. Robert Marx, who has remarkably pioneered many of the cutting edge techniques used by oral surgeons today. They were referred to difficult cases from all over the world, one of which was shown on the Discovery Channel (“A New Face for Marley”). At first eligibility he became board certified in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and continued his education in Memphis Tennessee, performing mostly corrective jaw, implant and TMJ surgery. He was an active member of the University of Tennessee Division of Plastic Surgery Cleft Lip and Palate Team. In 2007 he was the primary author of a book chapter regarding the contemporary treatment of severe infections of the jaws. After being recruited by Valley Health, he founded Winchester Oral Surgery Center in an attempt to make available essential services to this community.
In 2010, with the help of Winchester Medical Center, he established a charitable foundation to provide treatment of children afflicted with various dentofacial deformities. In 2011 he established a residency rotation at Winchester Medical Center, where chief residents from Howard University are trained in the latest oral surgical techniques. As the current Director of Facial Trauma for Winchester Medical Center, he provides and coordinates emergency room care for the most severe facial injuries. His private practice is limited to oral & maxillofacial surgery, with an emphasis on dental implants and advanced bone grafting techniques.
