Meet Dalton, a recent graduate of our VMT School and now a dedicated full-time EMT at Valley Medical Transport! We sat down with him to explore his journey—here’s what he shared:
Q: What inspired you to pursue a career as an EMT?
A: I sought a profession I could take pride in at the end of each day.
Q: What do you find most rewarding in this role?
A: It’s the ability to provide care to patients and leverage my skills to assist in emergencies, whether on duty or in public. I’m equipped to contribute to the best possible outcomes.
Q: Can you share a moment where you made a difference?
A: On short notice, I collaborated with a crew to transport an intubated patient from an Emergency Department to the ICU. It was a meaningful experience that also offered insight into paramedic responsibilities.
Q: How has Valley Health supported your growth?
A: It’s instilled a perspective that, regardless of challenges, I’m delivering essential care. Professionally, it’s enhanced my ability to connect with others through empathy and commitment to excellence.
Q: What sets Valley Medical Transport apart?
A: Our interfacility processes allow us to spend more time with patients, providing a deeper understanding of their conditions and symptoms—valuable knowledge for future care.
Q: Any advice for those considering this career?
A: Thoroughly research the role and determine early whether you prefer interfacility or 911 settings. Success hinges on maintaining composure and rational thinking under pressure.
