Compassionate Care Program

A Medication Program for Patients in Need

Compassionate Care is a community resource to assist patients who are uninsured or underinsured and who meet financial qualifications to obtain medications at no cost. Enrollment is by appointment only. Please call 540-536-4101 to schedule an appointment.

Eligibility

Eligibility for the Compassionate Care program varies according to the medication needed. Program participants must have a primary care physician in an area served by a Valley Health affiliated hospital. Medicare patients may qualify if not enrolled in a Part D plan or if Part D does not cover needed medications.

Required Documentation

Please bring the following to your enrollment appointment:

• 1 month proof of income (income tax return, check stubs, pension and social security statements, etc.)
• List of medications
• Medicare insurance cards and Part D cards
• Written prescriptions from your doctor for a 90-day supply of medication with 3 refills, (if appropriate) to begin the enrollment process

Medication Delivery

Medication provided by the Compassionate Care program is delivered to our office and patients notified when it is available for pick up. Some medications, depending on program requirements, may be delivered directly to the patient’s home. Please notify our office when you receive your delivery to allow us to keep your records up to date.

Once approved, medication may take up to several weeks to arrive. If a small amount of medication is needed before the delivery arrives, we can assist in finding the lowest cost options.
